Treasury Accountant

Job Description:

Our client, located in Raleigh, NC, is looking to add a Treasury Accountant to their team! The Treasury Accountant is responsible for creating a comprehensive Treasury policies and procedures manual, updating Treasury SOX documentation and serving as a backup for Treasury related transactions in the General Ledger. This position also executes continuous improvement projects and maintains the client's vision, mission and culture.


  • Create Treasury Policies and Procedures Manual

  • Research, analyze, and document Treasury internal processes, software applications, banking portals, and tools to deliver documentation that is accurate and complete

  • Ensure documentation complies with corporate standards, established guidelines, and is easily understood by the end-user

  • Assess internal processes and make recommendations to streamline procedures and reduce risk

  • Analyze and update Treasury SOX Documentation

  • Develop a thorough understanding of business processes and related technologies in scope for SOX compliance

  • Identify risks associated with business objectives and evaluate/improve controls in place to mitigate those risks

  • Coordinate and monitor remediation projects for deficiencies as reported by internal audit or the external auditor

  • Backup for Treasury related General Ledger Accounting

  • Enter daily banking activity into People Soft and Oracle general ledgers; including cash deposits, wires, ACH, credit cards and lock box

  • Prepare and input journal entries for month-end bank fees, FX trades, investment income and debt related expenses and accruals

  • Reconcile Treasury P&L and balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve variances on a timely basis

  • Submit transaction backup and respond to various inquiries from internal and external auditors

  • Support business groups with Treasury accounting data and research as requested

  • Assist with general ledger mapping and journal entry parallel testing for Kyriba treasury management system implementation

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related business field

Desired Background/Skills:


    • Minimum 8 years related Treasury, Finance, or Accounting experience and/or training with at least 5 years in Accounting role

    • Proficient in documentation writing and process flowchart creation

    • Thorough understanding of GAAP, internal controls and SOX compliance

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skillset; understanding of PeopleSoft, Oracle and banking portals

    • Achieves high level, sustainable performance and results; uses logic and insight to solve difficult problems and create effective solutions

    • Effectively responds to change and is comfortable with ambiguity; manages conflicting priorities

    • Must be able to travel 5-10% of the time for conferences, professional development, and meetings with internal customers
