Staff Accountant


Job Description:

Our client, a leading fabricator of structural steel, is looking for a Staff Accountant to join their team! This is a full time, direct hire position based in Raleigh, NC.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversees AP employee, review AP statements, processing of invoices

  • Enter accounts payable into cost/Timberline system for shop invoices

  • Handles cash management aspects of accounts payable

  • Performs some billing in coordination with another employee handling billing

  • Handles AR aging, collections, deposits

  • Distributes & performs entries & records for all Work In Process reports

  • Handles monthly reporting, coding for corporate credit cards

  • Oversees department regarding; AP and AR systems, COI & lien waiver compliance, inventory entry & maintenance, Billing

  • Oversee all filing of AP, AR, WIP and other financial records

  • Maintain employee records

  • Complete yearly worker's compensation audit

  • Obtain & maintain all required business licenses

  • Must have flexibility to work overtime when periods of work require

  • Requires discretion and confidentiality for company information

  • Enters new job accounting recaps & SOV's (working in coordination with 1 other)

  • Key scrap sales by project & handle scrap reporting in GL

  • Keeps accounting team trained as processes, technology and requirements evolve

  • Performs all monthly journal entries


Education Requirements:


  • 2-year degree in accounting or business & construction.


Desired Background/Skills:



    Qualifications:


    • Minimum 3 years experience in finance/accounting with responsibilities similar to those listed herein

    • Sage experience is preferred as well as construction accounting

    • Must exhibit ethical and financially sound decision-making ability with respect to accounts and financial partners.
