Senior Project Manager


Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their team! The Senior Project Manager is to provide day to day leadership, co-ordination, effective and pro-active Project management to ensure successful project completion. This is a full time, contract position based in Raleigh, NC.


Responsibilities:


  • Create and execute project work plans and schedules, using industry-standard applications (i.e. Microsoft Project)

  • Create and track project timelines, deliverables and calendars

  • Ensure that resources are effectively allocated and utilized across the project and bring to management attention any constraints, when necessary

  • Assist in gathering business requirements as needed and requested by management

  • Report out on project status and preparing presentations for leadership including performance Analysis and Reporting: Status reporting, critical path with dependencies and impact

  • Identify and document project issues and risks; determine and execute mitigation strategies

  • Interact with project sponsors (as deemed appropriate by project director/principal investigator) with a focus on customer service and understanding of client expectations and needs.

  • Utilize structured system development life cycle processes for planning, managing and documenting project activities

  • Monitor and assess the continued validity of the Business Case; verify project goals have been met

  • Change Control co-ordination/management: ensure changes and acceptance are agreed to and signed off by the Steering committee

  • Proactively manage implementation partners and uphold their commitment through management of their Scope of Work (SOW), Master Service Agreement (MSA), Change orders, Addendums

  • Serve as an escalation point/decision maker for project level decisions, resolving issues affecting Project scope, quality, schedule, budget and resources

  • Develop understanding and appreciation of client needs by interfacing with internal clients on projects

  • Develop expertise in one or more technical areas

  • Proactively recommend improvements to standard practices and processes within the business unit

  • Other tasks and projects as assigned


Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's level degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, other related field


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Knowledge of and experience with current technologies and project management techniques

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (i.e., MS Project, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.)

  • Familiarity / Experience with Waterfall and SAFe Agile preferred


Qualifications:


  • 6 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in working with vendors in co-managing projects desired

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate work at different levels of the organization

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize competing projects and deliver with confidence in a fast-paced environment

  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational sense

  • Excellent discipline, time management, and multi-tasking ability

  • Forward-thinking, creative mindset
