Job Description:

The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce is currently expanding its sales team. The Chamber is a private, non-profit, membership-driven organization comprised of nearly 4,000 business enterprises, civic organizations, education institutions and individuals. Its mission is to provide leadership that will help create regional economic prosperity and success for its members in the Raleigh area. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for selling Chamber memberships to prospective non-member businesses by communicating the benefits of the Chamber. Providing detailed information on various programs offered through the Chamber and orienting the client to the organization. This position reports directly to the Membership Development Director.


  • Sell new Chamber memberships and event sponsorships and achieve sales quotas, including:

  • Identifying prospects

  • Scheduling appointments and presentations with prospects

  • Closing sales during on-site visits or through follow-up phone calls/visits and written correspondence

  • Documenting contacts in CRM system

  • Solicits membership renewals for 1st and 2nd year after joining

  • Maintains knowledge of Chamber goals & objectives and understands benefits and features of Chamber events and programs

  • Participates in Chamber events to network with members and prospects

  • Attends monthly New Member Breakfasts to introduce new members

  • Attends regular sales/staff meetings

  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

    • Strong organization, time management and multi-tasking skills

    • Goal-oriented

    • Strong customer service skills

    • Adept at networking and able to prospect and cold-call

    • Superior verbal and written communications skills

    • Previous sales experience, ideally in B2B services or a membership product/organization

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel and Word

    • Provides own vehicle with proof of license and insurance
