Public Records Specialist

Job Description:

Our client, a fast-growing background screening organization based in Southern Pines, is seeking several skilled Public Records Specialists to add to their team! The Public Records Specialist is primarily responsible for processing Public Records products related to pre-employment background screening applications. This position is accountable for working within the client guidelines, as well as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), to provide minimal turnaround time and high quality results on background screening requests. This is a full time contract to hire opportunity with a pay rate of $13/hr and a schedule of Mon - Fri, 7am - 3:30pm or 8am - 4pm.


  • Retrieve and enter a variety of information from files, computer records, and web based systems

  • Review information and documents quickly and accurately in accordance with applicable procedures

  • Apply federal, state, local, and client guidelines to public records search results

  • Understand the court system terminology and interpret results

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, courts and other resources to retrieve additional information as needed

  • Able to manage individual workload in a timely manner

  • Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred - specializing in Criminal Justice a plus

Desired Background/Skills:


    • 1 to 3 years related work experience preferred

    • Knowledge of word processing software, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel

    • Strong familiarity with the internet, including internet research experience

    • Phone experience a plus

    • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills

    • Independent and detail oriented

    • Ability to work under constant deadlines

    • Teamwork oriented attitude
