Proposal Analyst Intern


Job Description:

Our client, a global non-profit research organization located in RTP, is seeking to hire a Proposal Analyst Intern for the summer of 2018. The Proposal Analyst Intern will provide financial assistance to the Financial Analysts supporting cost proposals for a non-profit based organization. The Intern reports to the Proposals Team and works closely with Financial Analysts and Management, Proposal Development Office, and the Office of Contracts. The primary role of this position will be assisting the Proposal Team with forecasting information into our financial software to develop client and internal budgets, publishing and formatting budget reports for client presentation and pulling together documents for compliance in our business proposals. The Intern will gain experience at a non-profit government research institute as well as exposure to the contracting industry from a financial perspective, including knowledge of budgeting, government compliance, contract types, and working in a team environment. This position is a full-time paid internship role with part-time training beginning in April 2018 and full-time internship hours lasting May 2018 through August 2018. This position is located in Research Triangle Park, NC. Cover letter required.


Responsibilities:


  • Pulling data and running financial reports, preliminary interpretation of data and other ad hoc requests

  • Reviewing Request for Proposals/Applications (RFP/RFAs) for issues regarding financial or contractual risk

  • Compiling documentation/compliance matrices for submission of business proposals to a variety of clients including federal and state government, international organizations, commercial firms and foundations

  • Research intelligence on competitors Financial and market conditions utilizing online searches and databases

  • Data entry into financial forecasting software and obtain necessary review by financial analyst and manager

  • Administrative functions such as using checklists to verify compliance, coordinating and tracking document collection from subcontractors and consultants


Education Requirements:


  • Junior or Senior currently enrolled in a 4-year university, majoring in business, finance, economics or accounting required

  • US citizen or permanent residency required due to government export regulations


Desired Background/Skills:



    Qualifications:


    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (e.g., Adobe, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint/Prezi) and compiling multiple documents into a single, clearly formatted PDF volume

    • Related experience and interest in government contracting, financial analysis, project management, and/or risk assessment

    • Ability to search share drives, internal website or other databases

    • Capacity to think critically, identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities from disparate sets of information and provide clear conclusions and guidance

    • Understands the value of customer service and is able to provide in an exemplary manner

    • Curious, someone who has a desire to learn and understand the business

    • Possesses the highest level of integrity and trust
