Phlebotomist


Job Description:

Our partner, a national provider of diagnostic testing, has an immediate need for a Phlebotomist to support their Durham location. These positions will start as a contract. The shift will be Monday through Friday 8am-5pm; Every 3rd Saturday 9am-1pm, however flexibility to work overtime is required. The pay rate for these positions will be $13-14/hr for two years of experience.


Responsibilities:


  • Will perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups

  • Complete urine drug screen collections and paternity collections

  • Will also complete breath/saliva alcohol testing as needed

  • May perform data entry of test requisition information

  • Pack and process specimens


Education Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Phlebotomy certification (where required) from an accredited agency, completion of an approved phlebotomy training course


Desired Background/Skills:


  • 2+ years of experience with high volume blood draws


Qualifications:


  • Phlebotomy certification (where required) from an accredited agency, completion of an approved phlebotomy training course, or equivalent experience through previous employment

  • Minimum 1+ year of verifiable phlebotomy experience

  • Exhibit proficiency in all of the following: blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, urine drug screen collections, paternity collections, breath/saliva alcohol testing, LCM/Cyber Tools, TestCup, pediatric blood collections, difficult draws (patients in mental retardation facilities, long-term care facilities, drug rehabilitation facilities, prisons, psychiatric facilities, or similar facilities)

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety, and ability to effectively communicate the importance of compliance and safety to other employees
