Paralegal (Family Law)


Job Description:

Our client, a growing, family law firm is looking for an experienced Paralegal to join their team. The ideal Paralegal will be dedicated to their clients and committed to the success of the firm. Compensation is based on experience.


Responsibilities:


  • Maintain and manage files

  • Draft correspondence to the Court and to clients

  • Assist in document preparation and filing, drafting pleadings, and contract of sale

  • Prepare and submit uncontested divorce packets

  • Prepare statements of net worth in matrimonial actions

  • Assist in discovery process and compliance in contested matrimonial and family law cases

  • Assist in entry and enforcement of money judgments

  • Legal research

  • Assist with drafting and filing petitions, schedules, and proofs of claim

  • Assist with electronic case filing and service of process

  • Maintain calendar and track deadlines for filings and proceedings

  • Case management through all phases of litigation

  • Assist with pleadings filing and service of process

  • Assist with discovery process, conduct document searches, and coordinate document production


Education Requirements:


  • Two year degree preferred

  • Paralegal certification not required


Desired Background/Skills:


  • MUST have at least two years of experience working in family law

  • Excellent computer skills including a proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products


Qualifications:


  • Possess a strong work ethic and the ability to self-start

  • Maintain a positive attitude

  • Able to multi-task and prioritize assignments while delivering a consistent, high quality work-product to both attorneys and clients

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Possess excellent client service skills and appreciate the importance of follow up

  • Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision and to seek help when needed

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
