Packing and Shipping Associate


Job Description:

Our client, a leader in the LED industry, seeks a Packing and Shipping Associate for their team! This position will start as a 6-month contract position, but there could be long-term growth potential. The Packing and Shipping Associate is responsible for prioritizing, distributing, and prepare materials and products for shipment by performing the following duties. This is a first shift, Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays, 8:00am - 5:00pm with the need to be flexible for overtime is required. The pay rate is $14/hr.


Responsibilities:


  • Distributes and prepares materials and products for shipment

  • Reads shipping order, or requisitions to determine and prioritize items to be moved, gathered, or distributed

  • Pulls customer orders from stock and conveys orders to shipping department through use of forklift

  • Verifies product picked by label matches data on handheld scanner or vehicle mounted unit

  • Consolidates, packages, and/or palletizes products

  • Stages product in stage lanes for carrier pick up

  • Uses RF scanner and Oracle to enter records

  • Follows established safety programs and maintains knowledge of safe working practices


Education Requirements:


  • High school diploma or general education (GED) preferred


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Ability to operate hand held computer system preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle) preferred

  • Proven work history showing a strong work ethic and stability in previous positions

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment

  • Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly

  • Self-starter, gets involved quickly, takes on difficult tasks with enthusiasm

  • Takes action to achieve goals beyond what is required

  • Maintains high activity/productivity level and operates with sense of urgency, efficiency, effectiveness and determination over extended periods of time
