Medical Office Accountant

Job Description:

Our client, a renowned medical practice serving all of Wilmington and Southeastern North Carolina, is seeking an experienced Medical Office Accountant to join their team. The Medical Office Accountant will be responsible for all accounting functions for the practice as well as overseeing the front office staff. The Medical Office Accountant role is a full-time opportunity offering $20 per hour plus excellent benefits!


  • Maintains general ledger, including bank account reconciliations, executes month-end closing procedures, and provides analysis and summaries of accounts

  • Accounts payable invoice reconciliation and payments management

  • Enters and reconciles daily deposits

  • Physician compensation and distribution calculations

  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

  • Prepares regular updates on business financial results and progress

  • Ensures compliance and application of existing accounting procedures

  • Oversees front desk staff and creates work schedules

  • Acts as liaison with IT company to troubleshoot issues within office

Education Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Accounting experience in a medical office preferred

  • Leadership experience and skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


  • Strong knowledge of GAAP

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products including Excel

  • Ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict

  • Proficient in QuickBooks

  • Basic understanding of computers and other office technology
