Medical Laboratory Technologist
Job Description:
Our partner, a national provider of diagnostic testing, is hiring for a Clinical Technologist in Charlotte NC. This role will work in a high complexity day-lab performing bench testing for Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation. As a Technologist you will work in a fast paced, production type environment performing a vital component of medical laboratory science. This role will potentially require floating to different facilities in the Charlotte area on a scheduled-ahead basis. This is a Mon-Fri 8am-5pm schedule with rotating weekend coverage. Pay is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities:
Receive specimens for testing; evaluate specimens and test orders; determine priority of work and batches to maintain acceptable turn-around-time; recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle appropriately.
Perform confirmatory testing on client samples, quality control samples and proficiency samples making measurements and calculations.
Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors and unusual results; interpret results to produce a final report.
Maintain, calibrate, and clean instrumentation; perform scheduled and as needed maintenance and critical function checks recognizing significant changes in instrument function; trouble shoot as indicated.
Follow quality control rules; monitor controls for error detection and take corrective action; maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control charts, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets.
Participate in the instruction and training of others; demonstrate and/or explain the testing process to others or observe the testing process as performed by others.
Education Requirements:
BS degree Biology, Chemistry or related field required
MLT degree and/or certification required
Desired Background/Skills:
Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank experience preferred
Working knowledge of molecular biology, microbiology or protein isolation
Knowledge of/experience with GLP
Qualifications:

Knowledge/experience with aseptic technique
Meticulous, detail-oriented, and organized
Able to follow instructions and protocols precisely and consistently
Able to prepare solutions by calculating molarity and dilutions
Able to work in fast paced environment
Willingness/able to work in clinical lab settings
