Job Description:
Our client has an immediate need for a Materials Control Worker position at their facility in Shelton, CT. This position will distribute supplies to laboratory departments, receive incoming deliveries, and maintain proper inventory control. Starting pay rate for this position is $17/hr and will operate on 1st shift schedule.
Responsibilities:
Handle medical records/filing
Will be retrieving glass slides (samples) from carts, bring them to their area, sort and file the slides
Will be working in the warehouse pick and delivering lab supplies
Will work with warehouse staff in picking-up and properly managing biohazardous and hazardous waste
Distributes and prepares laboratory orders and products for shipment
Reads shipping order, or requisitions, to determine and prioritize items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
Pulls orders from stock inventory and packs orders for shipping
Verifies that products picked match shipping order and completes necessary documentation
Use UPS and FedEx systems to process shipping labels
Load and Unload Trucks
Lift up to 50 lbs. consistently
Perform daily cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory counts
Use computer to record amounts of materials moved
Operate stand-up or sit-down forklifts
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Desired Background/Skills:
Prior experience in a warehouse or material handling is preferred
Forklift experience preferred
Qualifications:
This position will involve driving a forklift and prior experience is preferred
This is a physical job and fast-paced role, will be on feet most of the day, should be comfortable lifting 50+ lbs.
Prior experience warehouse inventory/stocking is preferr
Some inventory is stored in refrigerated/freezer area, so candidates may have to work for periods of time in this environment. It is advised that they be comfortable with this and bring sweatshirt, hat, etc. to work
1-2 year of Warehouse experience
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to use computers for inquiry and data entry is preferred
