Marketing Communications Coordinator

Job Description:

Our client, a non-profit research organization in the RTP area, is looking for an energetic and forward-thinking entry level marketing communications coordinator to join The Center for Forensic Science Department to support forensic technology initiatives.


  • Coordinate conference registration, conference materials and booth representation at public safety meetings on behalf of the organization and its government and commercial clients

  • Coordinate marketing, social media, events calendar, and associated metrics on behalf of government and commercial clients

  • Support training and education programs through coordination and planning activities and metrics delivery managed by the outreach manager

  • Collaborate with experts to plan, produce, and execute marketing projects, to include government and commercial clients

  • Coordinate special projects and campaigns to fully engage communities

  • Execute on-line research and analysis of other government and commercial communities to see how they are interacting with professionals

  • Topics will typically be forensic science and criminal justice in nature, but other diverse topics may be of interest

  • Coordinate and execute projects and tasks in association with content marketing plans

  • Develop, coordinate and execute projects and tasks with CFS outreach manager in association with program social media plans

  • Manage social media networks and plans

  • Assist with writing, editing, and distributing content through web and print marketing materials including social media, web, email, press releases, printed documents (i.e. flyers, postcards) and technology briefs

  • Manage event and campaign promotions through social media, web, email marketing, print marketing materials, and media outreach

  • Assist with website content development including generating and editing website content

  • Assist with re-branding strategy development execution and proposal strategy development

  • Manage SEO for multiple websites, and website launch initiatives

  • Abilities working in word processing, data entry, record and file maintenance

  • Work with the Outreach Manager to track outreach deliverable to show impact on the forensic and criminal justice communities

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or communication related field and 1-3 years of experience in a marketing or communications position

  • Or Associates degree in marketing, communications, or communication related field and 3-5 years of experience in a marketing or communications position

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Prior experience in website content management and/or Adobe Connect is a plus

  • Previous experience with the physical or biological sciences industry is a plus and or previous interests or courses in the physical or biological sciences is a plus

  • Previous experience with HootSuite is a plus


  • Previous experience with WordPress or other website management platforms

  • Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and InDesign specifically

  • Extensive knowledge in document software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio) to create professional-quality documents

  • Technologically competent in Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other emerging social networks

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize among work demands, and deliver impeccable quality products
