Maintenance Technician


Job Description:

Our client, a packaging company in Wilmington, NC, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their team to assist in performing all maintenance related activities on any and all equipment in the facility. This is a full-time position with a starting pay of $20 - $21/hr. with excellent benefits including 401k with match.


Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the troubleshooting and assisting with repairs of all plant mechanical and electrical systems to include production equipment and office/warehouse circuits

  • Responsibility for the maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of all equipment in the facility(s).

  • Responsible for assisting with any scheduled and/or preventive maintenance of all equipment in the facility(s). This includes completing and maintaining appropriate records

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and neatness of the maintenance shop and work areas.

  • Recommends to Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager/Supervisor any repairs or replacements needed on any equipment located at the facility(s). Works with Management to assist in obtaining quotes from vendors to perform any of these repairs or replacements.

  • Installation of new equipment on smaller capital projects and helps to oversee outside contractors on larger capital projects to ensure it is performed as quoted.

  • Making machine adjustments or minor maintenance repairs as needed to keep production equipment operational.

  • Assist the production supervisors to improve the efficiency of production equipment.

  • Makes recommendations on necessary maintenance and shop supply purchases in order to keep plant equipment operational.

  • Ensure all customer owned property and/or equipment is properly maintained.

  • Maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the requirements of ISO-9001:2015


Education Requirements:


  • Minimum of high school education with appropriate work experience in a maintenance environment.


Desired Background/Skills:



    Qualifications:


    • Good mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills developed through either hands on experience or through suitable educational training. Must be familiar with standard troubleshooting methods as they apply to electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

    • Must be fluent in 3 phase electrical work 480V-600V, troubleshooting/controlling VFDs

    • Must have experience in PLC, motor teardown/repair/replacement, equipment installation

    • Must be knowledgeable in conveyors, chain/belt replacement, and lighting,
