Litigation Paralegal


Job Description:

Our client, one of the largest and most respected law firms in Wilmington, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal. The Litigation Paralegal will be working with the Maritime law team. Hours are Mon-Fri 8:30-5:30 but may be flexible with this schedule. Litigation Paralegal salary $20-$25hr dependent on experience and offers excellent benefits.


Responsibilities:


  • Assists attorneys in performing their job, enhances attorney effectiveness by providing information and legal support, as well as representation of the attorneys to clients and others.

  • Paralegals perform a variety of tasks, including drafting legal documents, reports, and summaries, performing research, and preparing for depositions, settlement conferences, motions, trials and hearings.


Education Requirements:


  • 4 year degree, or

  • Paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program,


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Minimum 2 years as a Paralegal


Qualifications:


  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite; i.e., Word, Outlook, etc.Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm

  • Knowledge of NetDocuments (Document Management Software), and Elite helpful

  • Must be flexible/detail oriented

  • Excellent client service or interpersonal skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle conflicting priorities

  • Ability to provide paralegal support for two or more attorneys

  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion

  • Ability to manage/meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, using initiative in all aspects of assignments

  • Keen observation skills

  • Prior North Carolina litigation paralegal experience a plus

  • Working knowledge or familiarity with NC and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence
