Laboratory Manager


Job Description:

Our partner, a national provider of diagnostic testing, has an immediate direct hire opportunity for a Laboratory Manager at their RTP facility. This position will oversee the mass spectrometry sample preparation departments of its SAMHSA-certified drug testing laboratory. This position will have 2nd shift hours from 3:00 PM - 11:30pm, Tuesday-Saturday. Compensation will be based on education and experience and great benefits package will be included.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversight of laboratory technologists, including training, scheduling, performance evaluation and management

  • Managing daily specimen workload to ensure accurate and timely processing of samples and compliance with applicable regulations. Includes prioritization and remediation of delays, troubleshooting and process improvement

  • Execute and support the laboratory's QA/QC plan

  • Contribute to process engineering and workflow improvements

  • Maintain and control department supply inventory

  • Regular review of instruments, calibration, reagents and maintain associated logs


Education Requirements:


  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Chemistry, Medical Technology or relatable life science field

  • Must include 16 credit hours of Chemistry, 16 credit hours of Biology and 3 credit hours of Math


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Experience in Analytical Toxicology is preferred


Qualifications:


  • Minimum 6 years of clinical laboratory experience at the technologist level or above

  • Demonstrated progression in leadership and/or areas of responsibility within a laboratory setting

  • Ability to adapt in a fast paced work environment and assist wherever help is needed

  • Strong leadership skills in the areas of developing, training and motivating staff, as well as driving compliance with standard operating procedures and quality control measures

  • Must meet CLIA requirements
