Lab Technician


Job Description:

Our client, a global non-profit research organization located in RTP, is hiring a Lab Technician to support their Analytical Sciences group. As a Lab Technician, you will support various chemical analysis projects within this group. The Lab Technician will work with multiple team members and may report to several managers depending on the assigned tasks for the day.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist with lab-ware preparation

  • Assist with sample log-in

  • Assist with sample preparation (e.g., aliquoting, pipetting, weighing, extracting, assisting with instrument setup, etc.)

  • Assist with preparing formulations in support of toxicology studies. These include, but are not limited to, solutions, suspensions, and dietary feed mixes

  • Label, archive and retrieve data as needed

  • Complete documentation forms, including chemical inventory control form

  • Adhere to company and departmental Standard Operating Procedures and agency guidelines (e.g. FDA, EPA, and OECD GLPs)


Education Requirements:


  • High School Diploma

  • Some College (e.g., associate degree or technical certificate) preferred


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Ideal candidate would have chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or related field laboratory working experience


Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment

  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work independently and as members of project teams

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to follow instructions

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong mathematical skills


Other Information:


  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Must wear protective clothing (e.g., respirator, full body suit) when preparing formulations
