Lab Coordinator


Job Description:

Our client, a global non-profit research organization located in RTP, is hiring a Lab Coordinator to support various chemical analysis projects within their Analytical Sciences group. This position will be a minimum of 30 hours a week working in a laboratory setting.


Responsibilities:


  • Maintain safety equipment (e.g., eyewashes, safety showers, etc.)

  • Coordinate hazardous chemical waste disposal

  • Label/review items stored in the laboratory (e.g., chemicals, equipment, etc.) pursuant to Good Laboratory Practice regulations and established Standard Operating Procedures

  • Initiate purchase of new items as needed

  • Assist manager of ions analysis laboratory with sample preparation, analysis, instrument maintenance, and scheduling

  • Maintain refrigerators/freezers, including temperature and inventory data review

  • Calibration coordination (e.g., balances, weights, pipettes, thermometers, etc.)

  • Maintenance of equipment log books


Education Requirements:


  • Some college (e.g., associate degree or technical certificate) preferred


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Ideal candidate would have chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or related field laboratory working experience, including use of basic instrumentation (e.g., pH meter, balance, etc.).


Qualifications:


  • Must be able to work independently and as members of project teams

  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices required

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to coordinate and manage lab activities

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong mathematical skills
