Job Description:

Our client, a global non-profit research organization, is seeking an Institutional Contactor/Data Reviewer to assist with various project needs. The project collects information from universities about graduate students and researchers. This position entails examining collected data to determine whether it was accurately reported. This position is a part time 6 month contract role with potential to grow to full time hours once the project gets further into data collection. The position is located in Chicago, IL.


Responsibilities:


  • The project collects information from universities about enrollment and financial support of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. This position entails contacting participating institutions for survey completion, answering the help desk phone, and towards the end of survey collection examining collected data to determine whether it was accurately reported and following up with institutions.

  • During data collection the Institutional Contactor (IC) will be responsible for making out bound prompting calls to institutions for survey completion and answering questions that come in through the Help Desk 800 number and mailbox.

  • Towards the end of the data collection, the IC will be involved in review and retrieval efforts. During this time, they will examine trends in the reported data to determine any year-to-year inconsistencies that require follow up by the respondents. The IC should be able to read survey comments, recognize when comments suffice as an explanation for changes in trend data, and recognize when follow up is needed by insufficient explanations.

  • The IC should have excellent active listening skills and be able to articulate themselves in a professional manner.

  • The IC should have good command over writing and be able to formulate questions in a thoughtful precise manner so institutional staff can read and respond accurately.


Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

  • Candidates with knowledge of STEM fields preferred.


Qualifications:


  • Prior experience in reviewing/editing/cleaning data.

  • Attention to detail highly important.

  • Ability to draw inferences from data highly important.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and precisely in written form highly important.

  • Familiarity with organizations engaged in higher education and research desirable.
