Job Description:

Our client, in Raleigh, NC, is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to add to their team. Successful candidates will have the ability and drive to support talent acquisition operations in various ways. This individual will work closely with their supervisor to effectively execute and support the administrative day to day human resource functions, for both internal and external employees. This position is a priority, direct-hire role for our client.


  • Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees

  • Compile and update confidential employee records

  • Support the processing/reconciliation of all HR benefit-related activities without any material errors/mistakes/missing items

  • Calculate and provide staff with Total Rewards information; review enrollment forms for accuracy and coordinate enrollment with third-party administrator

  • Ensure compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing letters and other paperwork as directed; receive and record COBRA insurance premium payments

  • Coordinate health, life and disability insurance enrollments and communicate with service providers concerning routine administration of programs

  • Oversee and coordinate internal onboarding

  • Review applicable records/documents to validate compliance and/or identify problem areas with a focus on minimizing risk and liability for department/company operations

  • Assist in hiring process by coordinating job posting

  • Maintain the employee handbook with updated resolutions and other pertinent information, as needed

  • Complete required training and maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with employment-related laws and regulations

  • Participate in or help support the development of training video/process to enhance external and internal employee experiences

  • Direct employment-related inquiries, such as employment verification requests and unemployment compensation inquiries and proceedings to the appropriate contact

  • Provide basic employee relations support and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and administered in a fair and non-discriminatory manner, escalate more complex situations as appropriate

  • Assist with day to day operations of HR functions and duties, providing cross-functional support to team members and provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources Director

  • Assist HR Management with the coordination of HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc.) and take minutes, as requested

  • Address and respond to employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations

  • Identify and/or support the implementation/modification of processes that improve efficiencies

Education Requirements:

  • Associates and/or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related concentration, required

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and state and federal employment law


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

  • Two years of HR experience

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills

  • An analytical and critical thinker

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
