Job Description:

Our client, located in Roanoke, VA, is seeking an experienced HR Services Specialist to add to their team! This individual will provide superior call center customer service and processing to promote and enhance the effectiveness of the Human Resources Department at the company. This is a full time, contract opportunity.


  • Educate Team Members on payroll policies, HR guidelines, general Benefit information, and SOPs to ensure consistency for both quality and compliance purposes.

  • Transfer escalated issues to the HR Subject Matter Specialists or Supervisors as appropriate.

  • Educate internal customers on payroll policies, HRIS guidelines, general Benefit information, and SOPs to ensure consistency for both quality and compliance purposes.

  • Meet required service metrics for telephone accessibility, processing volume/turnaround time, and quality.

  • Research and process transactions as assigned for Payroll, Benefits and HR transactions, maintaining compliance with internal procedures, State and Federal laws, and HR/company policies.

  • Correspond with customers through email or by telephone to correct missing or incomplete information.

  • Work flexibly in a team environment handling cross-functional types of inquiries and processing assignments to respond to peaks in department workload volumes.

  • May monitor Team Members on FMLA/STD/LTD/WKC/Military/Personal Leaves of Absence. Using case management approach, each is reviewed to determine potential ADA compliance.

  • Present cases monthly with the internal legal team to determine a specific outcome to meet Federal and State compliance.

  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships to resolve customer issues.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma (Associate's degree preferred); or 2+ years related experience and/or training.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Background/Skills:


    • Working knowledge of personal computers.

    • Proficiency in the use of desktop applications (MicroSoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook).

    • Excellent written and verbal skills.

    • Experience with HR policies and communicating those clearly.
