General Maintenance Assistant


Job Description:

Our client, a global nonprofit research organization, is seeking a General Maintenance Assistant to assist in upkeep of buildings and equipment cleaning and organizing. This position will perform a variety of physical labor tasks, in repetitive and routine assignments, and may be closely supervised when assisting higher-level tradesman in performing more complex work. This position is a part time (approximately 25 hours per week) two month contract role with possibility of extension located in Research Triangle Park, NC.


Responsibilities:


  • Building upkeep, erecting moving equipment (e.g. pallet jack, hand truck, utility cart, etc.), and providing maintenance assistance to facility staff

  • General cleaning tasks of facility buildings

  • Moving of materials from one building to another on campus

  • Follow safety regulations as instructed by supervisor


Education Requirements:


  • High school diploma preferred

  • Education and/or experience in the performance of a variety of manual tasks that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience

    • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team

    • Physical strength enough to move relatively heavy objects and to work at heavy manual tasks for considerable periods of time

    • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner

    • Positive attitude and work ethic

    • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds

    • Must be 18 years of age

    • US Citizenship required due to government export regulations
