Floating Medical Technologist


Job Description:

Our partner, a national provider of diagnostic testing, has an immediate need for a floating Medical Laboratory Technologist to support their Greensboro location. These positions will start as a contract. The shift will be Monday -Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm; however, flexibility to work overtime is required. The Medical Technologist will be required to perform routine medical laboratory tests and analysis, along with completing phlebotomy work, which includes the collection and preparation of patient samples. The Medical Technologist will be required to float to multiple facilities in the Piedmont Triad area. The pay rate for this position will be $20- $25/hr with three years of experience.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests and assays in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations in a designated technical department.

  • Performs STAT tests and analyses of samples and sends reports out to physicians.

  • Perform QC and maintenance of instruments.

  • Interprets results, subject to verification by Technologist/Supervisor.

  • Processes and tests specimens for in-house testing and referral.

  • May perform data entry of patient information.

  • Report to multiple site locations in the Triad area to collect and process specimens.


Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry is preferred.

  • Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent is required.


Desired Background/Skills:


  • 2+ years of experience with high volume blood draws


Qualifications:


  • Must have at least 1 year, preferably hospital, med tech experience.

  • Processes and tests specimens for in-house testing and referral to labs.

  • Answer phones, files, maintains logs and supplies on hand as required.

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety, and ability to effectively communicate the importance of compliance and safety to other employees.

  • ASCP or AMT Certified is required.

  • MVR (motor vehicle report) is required.
