Engineering Test Technician

Job Description:

Our partner, a market-leading innovator and manufacturer of semiconductors and LED products is hiring for an Engineering Test Technician. The Engineering Test Technician will primarily be responsible for setting up and performing a range of environmental, mechanical, optical, and electrical compliance testing on lighting products in a timely manner in support of Regulatory Compliance Engineering. The technician will also be responsible for laboratory test equipment operation, maintenance and basic calibration. This position will work 1st shift and start on a contract basis with potential for long term, full time hire.


  • Prepare test samples for regulatory evaluation and testing purposes in accordance with published regulatory standards

  • Build test fixtures in order to demonstrate ?worse-case? scenarios for testing purposes

  • Daily testing and monitoring of lighting products with special attention to detail and processes. Examples of testing include hypots, ground continuity, temperature measurements, physical tests and abnormal conditioning

  • Offer technical input for departmental and customer documentation, equipment procedures and calibration procedures

  • Maintain current details of relevant applications, hardware and support policies in order to provide technically accurate and fast responses and solutions

  • Maintain technical logs, files and records, databases, test results, troubleshooting guides and spare parts inventories/lists

  • Perform execution of certification, verification, calibration, Gage R&R, and preventative maintenance procedures on an ongoing basis for regulatory test and measurement systems and physical standards managed

  • Identify and recommend improvements to technical and operational processes and procedures

  • Witness/coordinate testing at outside test houses as required

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required or requested from time to time

Education Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or related subject preferred

  • HS diploma is required

Desired Background/Skills:


    • Previous hands on experience as an Electrical and/or Electronics technician preferred.

    • Familiarity with UL safety standards a plus

    • Experience utilizing electrical test equipment

    • Familiar with PC-based software tools (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access, etc.)

    • Ability to work independently while also operating in a team environment

    • Excellent written and verbal communication

    • Resourceful, hands-on, problem solving individual with initiative and drive to work around technical obstacles.

    • Demonstrated understanding of appropriate handling of confidential information

    • Works closely with R&D, Power Electronics, Product Development, and Operations

    • Must be able and willing on occasion to fabricate components, assemble systems, prepare test samples and fixtures, etc. and operate basic hand tools, shop tools and lab equipment
