Job Description:

Our client, a durable medical equipment supplier in Wilmington, is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to join their team. This company is passionate about career and personal development and growth. The Eligibility Specialist will be responsible for reviewing patient records to ensure their insurance coverage. The hours for the Eligibility Specialist are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with 1 hour for lunch. This role offers competitive pay and great benefits! The Eligibility Specialist must be able to type 55 WPM.


  • Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage and/or federal and state assistance programs

  • Conduct eligibility screenings and assessment of patient financial requirements and walk patients through the eligibility process

  • Obtain legal relevant evidence, physician statements and all other documentation required, completing and filing all pertinent applications and accompanying documentation

  • Initiate and maintain proper follow up with the patient, client medical facility and government agencies to ensure timely follow up and completion

  • Document records systems with progress notes

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma required

  • Associate degree preferred

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Data Entry skills - must be able to type 55 WPM

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology


  • Computer literacy

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Knowledge of standard office equipment

  • Ability to type 55 WPM
