Job Description:

Our client, a global non-profit research organization based in RTP, is seeking to hire a Document Publications Specialist to support the Publications office in a contract to hire nature. In this publications production position, the successful candidate will provide formatting (word processing) services in MS Office products (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) using templates and by applying styles. Document Publications Specialist will accept track changes, follow staff directions about formatting requests, and produce presentations, journal articles, proposals, newsletters, reports, and other deliverables as required in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. The candidate must meet aggressive daily deadlines, quickly learn and apply new technologies, and be committed to quality and willing to collaborate. This position is a four-month contract to hire role.


  • Demonstrate expertise formatting documents in MS Word using templates and styles

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat, including the ability to troubleshoot formatting issues and complex styles and layouts including complex tables

  • Complete document updates (frequently with extensive track changes) in Office files as directed using specified templates or developing new templates as needed

  • Demonstrate expertise formatting documents in MS Word using templates and styles

  • Create high-quality graphs and charts in Excel and PowerPoint, and insert these graphics into other Microsoft programs, such as Word

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have knowledge and experience in Section 508 (WCAG2.0 guidelines), HTML, CSS, or XML publishing

  • Showing an ability to instruct other team members in using software features is a plus

Education Requirements:

  • GED required; previous related experience preferred
