Job Description:

Our client, based in Durham, NC, is seeking a skilled Communications Specialist to add to their team! We are looking for a communications superstar who loves great storytelling and the rush of landing top tier media coverage, working speaking opps for the biggest stages, and winning prestigious awards. When opportunity strikes, you work faster than the speed of light to gather information for the media so they can hit their deadlines. When you see members of your team speaking from the main stage you feel ownership, and you loved the entire process of getting them there.


  • Gather information for the media so they can hit their deadlines.

  • Help prepare team members speak from the main stage.

  • You can swiftly gather information for reporters and our PR agency.

  • You are a storyteller who knows how to make people lean into your copy.

  • You are a networker who can vet, organize and secure primo speaking opportunities for our team.

  • Able to take multi-layered communications projects from concept to completion while coordinating the working parts from content creators.

  • Coordinate projects between a variety of content contributors.

  • Have team spirit and thrive working in a collaborative department.

  • Very organized, a detail maniac.

  • Coordinating the behind-the-scenes magic that elevates your company?s share of voice.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English or equivalent work experience

Desired Background/Skills:


    • Exceptional listening, writing and communication skills

    • Experience writing captivating content ranging from press releases and articles to white papers and blogs

    • Excellent time management skills and experience juggling multiple projects simultaneously

    • 3+ years of experience on a small, fast paced PR/Communications/Marketing team or in an agency setting

    • Experience communicating effectively to a variety of audiences by understanding their unique needs and desires

    • Media relations, content creation, or event planning experience

    • Experience with HubSpot, WordPress, Slack or Asana

    • Transit industry knowledge a plus
