Compliance and Quality Assurance Auditor

Job Description:

Our client, located in Morrisville, NC is seeking an experienced Compliance and Quality Assurance Auditor to add to their team! This Internal Auditor position reports to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for ensuring that the company is adhering to applicable laws, regulations and contractual obligations by conducting audits throughout the organization. This position will work closely with compliance, IT security, quality assurance, and finance in reviewing compliance procedures and processes. The Internal Auditor is responsible to provide independent assurance that the client's risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively. This is a full time, direct hire opportunity!


  • Work with the Director of QA/QC to develop, implement, monitor and manage the company's compliance with internal control requirements.

  • Assess the Internal audit process by identifying and prioritizing areas of the business where there is a risk of non-compliance and assist in development and/or execute processes or policies to reduce that risk.

  • Train employees on the internal audit process and the company expectations.

  • Perform internal auditing (using appropriate sampling techniques, data analysis tools, and algorithms) of performance metrics and when applicable, internal controls, to ensure that documentation, controls and processes are appropriate and aligned to regulations and internal policies and procedures.

  • Manage audit planning, scheduling, and execute internal audits throughout the organization to assess compliance to regulations, internal policies and procedures, and customer contractual requirements.

  • Ensure that audit findings are supported and objectives are achieved.

  • Prepare clear, concise, and objective reports of findings and recommendations for management's consideration.

  • Determine the level of risk of findings identified, create audit reports, and follow up on corrective actions ensuring they address the short-term correction as well as the preventive action of the finding.

  • Develop and perform follow-up audits to ensure that corrective action plans are in place and operating effectively.

  • Review monitoring reports submitted by operational areas.

  • Working with QAQC and business partners, assist in the identification of root cause analysis and trending.

  • As part of audit process, working with Business Process and business partners to Identify process improvements that lead to cost savings or revenue enhancement opportunities.

  • Assist with external audits and onsite survey preparation.

  • Assist with policy and procedure standardization and annual policy review.

  • Ensure that all audit records and documentation are accurate and in compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Evaluate and audit the company's compliance program.

  • Evaluate how well risk management is being handled within a company - evaluating information security and risk exposures.

  • Report on risk management issues.

  • Assist internal departments so that they are able to understand and comply with quality and compliance expectations.

  • Communicate with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Maintain knowledge of healthcare, insurance, clinical, therapy, and reimbursement standards as it relates to audit changes/techniques. Apply any changes to the standard audit programs.

  • Other special projects and duties, as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in business administration, finance or equivalent.

Desired Background/Skills:


    • 5 years of experience internal or external audit experience; 3 years within pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.

    • ASQ certification strongly recommended but not required.

    • Thorough understanding of internal auditing standards and risk assessment practices.

    • Additional distinctions or certifications may be preferred or required.

    • In-depth industry knowledge regarding best practices, policies, current regulations, and technology.

    • Exceptional research, planning, problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

    • Excellent presentation, collaboration, and verbal and written communication skills.

    • High level of efficiency, accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.

    • Experience auditing for compliance.

    • Strong business acumen and ability to interact effectively with many different levels of people.

    • Self-directed and self-disciplined.

    • Able to utilize sound, independent judgment to set priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Data privacy and security background a plus.
