Communications Specialist


Job Description:

Our client, a large non-profit organization, is looking for a Communication Specialist to join their team! The Communications Specialist will support the three Communications hubs - Marketing Communications, Institute Communications and Library and Information Services, performing assigned tasks. This is a full time, contract position based in the RTP, Durham, NC.


Responsibilities:


  • Update Content Management Systems with content that populates the website and the organization's intranet.

  • Correct content in the organization's publications database.

  • Manage communications with the researchers to create and update their online professional profiles

  • Interact with the internal communications team

  • Assist library and info's with updated intake forms

  • Other tasks as assigned.


Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred


Desired Background/Skills:



    Qualifications:


    • Previous experience working in corporate communications or marketing communications environments strongly preferred

    • Previous writing and editing experience and familiar with AP Style required

    • Experience with content management systems (e.g., Drupal)

    • Strong attention to detail and follow-through

    • Strong writing and verbal communication skills

    • Sensitivity to deadlines and production targets while flexible enough to effectively address changes in plans

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

    • Positive attitude and willingness to embrace change

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
