Job Description:

Our client, a nonprofit research organization in RTP, is seeking a Chemist I to provide analytical support, for both commercial and government projects, using chromatography?mass spectrometry techniques as needed for our clients. This is a six-month contract to hire position.


Responsibilities:


  • Candidate(s) must possess strong intrapersonal skills and willingness to work in a team environment

  • Strong understanding of basic liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS) techniques and requisite data acquisition software

  • Requires handling of neat test articles, solvents, and environmental/biological matrices

  • Operation and maintenance of LC-MS systems

  • Independent analysis using established methods, data quality control and review

  • Conduct method development activities and conduct validation of analytical methods for various projects

  • Provide support to the other projects within RTI

  • Ability to learn other analytical techniques


Education Requirements:


  • Master of Science or Bachelor of Science with 2 years of relevant work experience in Analytical Chemistry/General Chemistry or related field required


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with project-specific documentation

  • Ability to maintain a strong customer focus, flexibility, attention to detail, and a positive attitude in day-to-day activities

  • Ability to work on projects requiring specific laboratory quality practices and guidelines


Qualifications:


  • Must communicate regularly with their administrative supervisor and project leaders, keeping them informed of progress and potential complications

  • Comprehension of FDA GLPs and following SOPs to properly conduct work assignments
