Job Description:

Our client, a global nonprofit research organization, is seeking an entry level Chemist I to add to the Center for Forensic Sciences Proficiency Testing Formulations group. The successful candidate will assist in the formulation of standard reference materials in different matrices including external quality control samples. In time, the successful will be expected to become a lead Chemist in these formulations. This position is a 6 month contract to hire position located in RTP, NC.


  • Read, understand and implement standard operating procedures (SOP) in the production and formulation of standard reference materials (SRM) in accordance with ISO 17034

  • Perform routine laboratory skills in accordance with Good Laboratory and Manufacturing Procedures (GMP and GLP)

  • Perform accurate weighing on analytical balances, use of automated and non-automated pipettes, accurate measurements of different liquids

  • Actively interact and collaborate with members of the formulations team, assisting and leading as necessary

  • Ability to learn to perform chemical analyses and chemical tests on hair, blood, urine and other body fluids, and other substances as required

  • Safely perform procedures and develop professionally

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Science or related field of study

    • Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel

    • Ability to function in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

    • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

    • Reliability and timeliness
