Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Cashier to join their team! The cashier will perform clerical customer service duties in support of college registration activities involving serving as a cashier, handling student complaints, providing information and maintaining related financial records. This is a full time, contract position based in Wilmington, NC.


  • Perform general cashiering duties for the college; receive student tuition and fees; issue parking decals; issue receipts; issue refunds as required; maintain necessary records and files of transactions; record all monies received on computer terminal; maintain cash drawer on a daily basis and balance the cash drawer at the end of each day by tender.

  • Provide assistance to students and the general public with inquiries and complaints; answer student complaints regarding registration fees, delinquencies and refunds; identify customer service problems and conduct research; communicate results to students as appropriate.

  • Answer incoming telephone calls providing general information on college registration policies and procedures as required; and if needed refer calls to appropriate department personnel.

  • Assist with distribution of checks to students and employees.

  • Maintain petty cash fund; balance petty cash on regular basis. Maintain parking ticket information.

  • Provide information to students regarding student health insurance

  • Operate a variety of office machines including a computer terminal; input and retrieve data and text.

  • Assist with ID Card Production

  • Perform a variety of general clerical duties including typing and proofreading a variety of documents.

  • Assist with shredding and disposing of outdated financial documents.

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Education Requirements:

  • Associates degree preferred in accounting or business

Desired Background/Skills:


    • One year of cash handling and customer service experience required

    • Ability to learn the operations, services and activities of a customer service program.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills

    • Communicate clearly and concisely

    • Work independently in the absence of supervision.

    • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
