Associate User Research - Gaming

Job Description:

Our client, a leader in the video gaming industry with a goal of creating cutting-edge gaming experiences and creating quality games, is seeking an Associate User Researcher to join their team. The company's culture aims to maintain the core values of professionalism while allowing the team the freedom of having fun while they do it. The Associate User Research will assist in designing, preparing for, and conducting user experience research in support of product development. By recruiting study participants, setting up the technical environment, and interacting and observing player experiences, the accessibility, usability and overall player experience can be tested and evaluated. It will work on a 1st shift schedule but flexibility for overtime is required.


  • Recruit study participants that fit predetermined target profiles

  • Collaborate with dev team to create surveys from templates

  • Manage for the technical set up and equipment configuration of UR Lab for each test

  • Validate the technical aspects of the playtests (multiplayer connections, build stability, streaming and capture functionality.)

  • Revise the questionnaire on the game experience and conduct interviews at the end of the day

  • Observe test subjects during tests to identify usability issues, player behaviors and tendencies

  • Conduct post-test debrief interviews

  • Mentor User Research Moderators

  • Maintain participant databases

  • Collect, summarize and analyze data

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) related to psychology, communication, human computer interaction or market research

Desired Background/Skills:

  • 2-4 years related experience or training in User Research or related field

  • Familiarity with Survey Monkey

  • Enthusiasm for playing and understanding a variety video games

  • Knowledge of statistics and software development


  • Experience with installation of computer hardware and software

  • Experience in project coordination

  • Basic knowledge and experience in user research

  • Knowledge of the video game industry (major players and products)

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, both written and verbal skills

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite

  • Technical understanding of video game platforms
