Accounting Manager


Job Description:

Our client, one of the largest and most well-respected Real Estate firms in Southeastern North Carolina, is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading an accounting team and will report directly to the VP of Finance. This position offers $65k plus full benefits.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversees the monthly closing and financial statement preparation processes for corporate activities

  • Supports banking and working capital management

  • Monitors accounts receivable and payable

  • Calculates commission payments

  • Leads all payroll and benefit activities; manages bi-monthly payroll process

  • Ensures accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results

  • Investigates and explains book to physical adjustments; analyzes and communicates potential excess and obsolete inventory items monthly

  • Supports the creation of policies and procedures to develop stronger internal controls; supports external audit process

  • Supports creation of monthly external and internal reporting packages

  • Provides technical guidance, leadership, and direction to an accounts payable/accounts receivable team

  • Directly supervises accounting department team, which includes monitoring performance and providing guidance and feedback regarding policy and procedures

  • Works collaboratively as a member of the management team


Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree required

  • MBA preferred


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as the position requires direct interaction with external auditors, senior management and other accounting groups

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Experience in real estate industry preferred


Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in accounting and at least 2 years supervising others

  • Prior experience and proficiency with accounting systems, preferably QuickBooks

  • Good working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Ability to build rapport, provide motivation, resolve conflicts, build teamwork and coach employees to attain company, department and team objectives
