Accounting Assistant

Job Description:

Our client, an organisation representing non-profit and non-partisan organizations, is looking for an Accounting Assistant to join their team! The Accounting Assistant responsibilities include using specialized ledgers/software to record and process expenditures, receipts, payroll and other financial transactions. This is a part-time, contract position based in Raleigh, NC.


  • Process accounts receivable and account payable.

  • Processing transactions, issuing checks, and updating ledgers, budgets

  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department and organization.

  • Maintains accounting records by making copies; filing documents, etc.

  • Maintains accounting databases by entering data into the computer databases.

  • Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.

  • Handle payroll using payroll software.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

  • Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas.

  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws.

  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

  • Work with accountant when necessary.

Education Requirements:

  • High school degree; Associate's degree or relevant certification is a plus.

Desired Background/Skills:


    • At least 2-5 years bookkeeping experience, preferably within a business-services environment.

    • Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles.

    • Competency in MS Office (Word/Excel), databases (Google Drive) and accounting software (QuickBooks Online).

    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
