Job Description:

Our client, an established CPA firm in Wilmington, is searching for an Accountant to join their team in providing accounting and bookkeeping services to multiple clients. The ideal Accountant will have experience providing support to a variety of businesses and will preferably have worked in a CPA office previously. This could also be a great opportunity for a recent graduate to begin a career in accounting. The Accountant role is a full-time opportunity and does require some overtime, especially during tax season.


Responsibilities:


  • Accounts Payable: record vendor invoices into the accounting system, process disbursements, resolve vendor discrepancies

  • Bank Reconciliation: prepare bank and credit card reconciliations, process customer returns, issue customer credits, cash management, assist in cash flow management including cash requirements

  • General Ledger: reconcile balance sheet accounts - including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable and purchases clearing; research and resolve discrepancies, review postings to the GL for accuracy and timeliness, and enter data for monthly and on-demand financial statements for CPA review

  • Payroll Preparation: handle client payroll, compiles monthly and quarterly tax reports and notifications to clients, generates 1099's and W2's for clients using ADP and Thomson Reuters software applications

  • Prepare annual tax returns including 1040, 1041, 1120, 1120S, 990, and 1065 clients


Education Requirements:


  • Associate degree in Accounting required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred


Desired Background/Skills:


  • Minimum of two years accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports in a CPA Firm environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills


Qualifications:


  • Ability to maintain computerized bookkeeping records; Thomson Reuters ACS and Quickbooks Pro experience preferred

  • Knowledge and practical experience regarding basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Google Docs, Cloud-based storage solutions

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with GAAP

  • Ability to work both individually and as a team player

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Should be familiar with Sales & Use Tax compliance
