Job Description:
The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate movement of goods within the organization. You will be responsible for managing a team, coordinating shipping and receiving activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies. This position plays a vital role in optimizing logistics processes and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and provide guidance to shipping and receiving staff, including hiring, training, scheduling and performance management.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products.
Collaborate with various departments to schedule shipments, prioritize orders and meet customer demands.
Implement efficient routing and transportation strategies to minimize costs and maximize delivery speed.
Oversee accurate tracking and recording of inventory levels using appropriate software systems.
Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure data accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Monitor stock levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations, optimizing inventory turnover.
Ensure products are properly packaged, labeled and documented for shipping in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Monitor and enforce safety protocols in the shipping and receiving areas to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment.
Maintain organized records of shipments, receipts and inventory transactions.
Generate and analyze reports related to shipping and receiving activities, identifying trends, discrepancies and areas for improvement.
Identify opportunities for streamlining processes, reducing costs and enhancing efficiency in shipping, receiving and inventory management.
Develop and implement best practices to optimize workflows and improve overall logistics performance.
Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
Address customer inquiries and concerns related to shipping and receiving processes.
Education Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Desired Background/Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of diverse individuals.
Proficiency in inventory management software and systems.
Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in all aspects of the role.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards in shipping and receiving.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Qualifications:
Proven experience (7+ years) in shipping, receiving and inventory management, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibility.
Experience in a variety of technology (desktops, laptops, PDAs, etc.).
Experience using general office equipment (computer, fax machine, and copier, etc.).
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel (especially Excel spreadsheets) and Outlook.
3 years of customer service experience preferred.
5 years of leadership experience preferred.
5 years of inventory and warehouse management experience preferred.
7 years of warehouse supervisory experience preferred.

Schedule: 8, 10 and 12 hour shifts; Day shift; Monday to Friday; Weekends as needed.
