Job Description:
The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Vice President of Finance to join their team! The VP of Finance will manage accounting functions including financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, human resources, and employee benefits. This role will spearhead the timely and accurate reporting of financial information to leadership, establish and monitor internal controls, and ensure adherence to GAAP and all laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. This is a hybrid, direct hire opportunity based in Raleigh, NC.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage all daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly journal entries, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and monthly adjusting entries for non-restricted and restricted entities.
Supervise a subordinate for human resources and accounting functions.
Review all account payable files for accuracy in coding and budgeting.
Aggregate accounts receivable information prepared from CRM, recognize revenue and make deposits.
Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and budgets and actual expenditures.
Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep leadership abreast of the organizations financial status.
Prepare leadership for regular reports to officer and board of directors and for committee meetings.
Manage annual budgeting and planning process. Provide department heads with advice and information regarding the financial performance of their departments.
Manage cash flow forecasting.
Oversee routine bank activity and coordinate the reconciliation of all bank accounts.
Manage grant accounting; ensure that expenses are aligned with grant programs throughout a grant period, collate financial reports for grant reporting.
Prepare employee payroll information and transmit records for payroll processing by vendor. Manage payments for payroll taxes, insurance, 401(k) contributions, health savings accounts, and garnishments.
Supervise management of employee vacation, health, and other absence records.
Coordinate and manage employee benefits plans including medical, life, disability, and 401(k). Re-bid coverage when necessary. Administer workers compensation, auto, commercial, officers and directors, and general liability insurance coverage. Review coverage annually for adequacy.
Coordinate with independent auditors. Prepare work papers and account analysis at year-end to assist in annual audit.
Coordinate preparation of tax returns with independent auditors.
Manage fixed asset inventory.
Maintain the personnel policies and procedures manual. Work with management staff to assure compliance with all policies and procedures.
Execute other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field

Qualifications:
10+ years experience in an Accounting role
Prior experience as leader of an organizations accounting function, or directly reporting to the leader of the accounting function
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics accounting software package
Proficiency in Paychex or similar payroll software, CRM systems and other programs in the MS Office Suite
Experience with employee benefits and human resource policy management
Prior experience in charitable organization or association nonprofit preferred
