Payroll Tax Analyst
Job Description:
The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for providing payroll operational support for approximately 4,000 employees. This role requires specialized subject matter expertise in the area of payroll function with high concentration in taxation.
Responsibilities:
Support US Payroll Analysts in processing payroll for all U.S. salaried, hourly, and multi-state employees on time and in line with SOX controls.
Research and execute payroll federal and state regulatory requirements for employee benefits, bonuses/commissions, multi-state, garnishments, 401k, stock plan, etc.
Perform quarterly reconciliations and controls to ensure accurate multi-jurisdiction payroll tax reporting through ADP SmartCompliance.
Process state-to-state balance adjustments and tax filing amendments for retroactive work location updates.
Register new payroll tax jurisdictions and analyze the advantages of various tax credits applicable.
Support the year-end payroll project by ensuring the accuracy of Form W-2s through reconciling all YTD payroll inputs and performing tax scrubbing.
Handle tax notices and tax adjustments, and collaborate with the vendor to research and resolve agency notices.
Partner with the Stock Administration to manage stock-based compensation processing in payroll, including stock option exercises, RSUs, and ESPP, ensuring payroll tax compliance.
Prepare and/or support state and federal labor reports and ad-hoc reports as requested by internal partners, as well as audit requests.
Document all customer interactions accurately in the case management tool, escalating complex inquiries for resolution or management guidance as needed.
Write work instructions to train team members on all tasks related to the role, and create Knowledge Articles to enhance customer experience in partnership with management and other COEs.
Education Requirements:
Expert knowledge of US federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including payroll tax, reporting and required filings as well as SOX Controls.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). (i.e. V-Lookups, Pivot-Tables, etc.).
Demonstrated exceptional people skills, including conflict resolution, coaching and negotiation abilities.
Solid verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Excellent customer service skills.
2 years of experience as payroll analyst and confirmed knowledge of payroll tax operations standard process programs in a multi-national corporation.
Experience with Workday US Payroll and ADP Tax Services is preferred.
4 month contract with the possibility to extend.
Remote position, ideally in Eastern Time zone.
