Job Description:
Our client, a non-profit research organization, is seeking a Chemist to join their team! This is an on-site, long-term contract opportunity based in Durham, NC. Salary: $23.00 per hour Schedule: 8am-5pm
Responsibilities:
Apply and interpret standard chemistry, scientific or engineering theories, concepts, and techniques.
Perform record keeping and document daily quality checks, instrument performance parameters, methods, instrument maintenance etc. as required by each project.
Understand and adhere to laboratory safety requirements.
Understand and follow data quality and documentation practices when working in non-regulated, regulated, and GXP environments and participate in external and internal audits as needed.
Communicate effectively with project managers, task managers, and co-workers to ensure that task assignments are understood, and delays or problems are addressed in an efficient manner to meet project deadlines.
Prepare comprehensive work plans and worksheets that document critical steps for preparation, analysis and adherence to QA.
Perform various laboratory instrument analyses as required by assigned projects, these could include but may not be limited to Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy/Mass Spectrometry (ICP-OES/MS), Ion Chromatography (IC), and others.
Perform instrument standardization and calibrations, identify failures and flag samples for repeated analyses.
Organize samples for storage and retrieval in secured locations.
Provide feedback that may improve safety, sample handling processes, analytical methods and sample flow through the laboratory.
Maintain a strong customer focus and conduct literature searches to support method development, stature, expansion of analytical capabilities for business growth and proposal development.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science

Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel

Ability to work independently
