Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Bid Developer with experience in mechanical piping systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to analyze and interpret mechanical drawings, perform accurate material take-offs, and develop cost estimates for piping projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can drive project bid and sales efforts forward, manage estimations, and support a dedicated team in delivering top-notch results.
Responsibilities:
Review and interpret mechanical and piping drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications.
Perform detailed material take-offs (MTOs) for piping systems, including pipes, valves, fittings, and related components.
Develop comprehensive cost estimates, factoring in labor, materials, and time requirements for each project.
Coordinate with subcontractors, ensuring they have all relevant drawings and specs for accurate bidding.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure accurate project bid development.
Supervise and mentor a team of Estimators, setting high standards for accuracy and efficiency in estimation work.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Maintain open communication with clients, providing updates, proposals, and solutions as needed.
Prepare and present written proposals, cost estimates, and budgets, keeping clients updated throughout the project lifecycle.
Track and adjust project budgets as necessary, ensuring projects stay within approved financial boundaries.
Education Requirements:
AAS or BS degree (preferably in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related).
Desired Background/Skills:
Supervise a team of Estimators.
Review blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Prepare hands on detailed estimates.
Provide all subcontractors with relevant drawings and specifications during the bid process.
Estimate time, labor, material, and product costs to determine overall cost for project.
Prepare written proposals, cost estimates, budgets and updates for clients.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.
Strong knowledge of material take-offs, estimating software, and project cost analysis.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple bidding projects.
ERP systems experience a definite plus.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and clients.
Proficient in MS Office with a focus on Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in plan and spec estimating.
Proven experience as a Project Estimator with a focus on mechanical piping systems.
Other Information:
Monday -Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm.
