Senior Communications Specialist

Job Description:

Our client's Office of Corporate Communications is looking for a seasoned communications specialist who will sit within the Corporate Communications team but work closely with the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDIB) team to help develop strategic storytelling, internal and external communications strategies, and nurturing relationships with key partners and top-tier press. Expertise in corporate communications with some consumer or general market knowledge is preferred. This is a remote or hybrid option full-time 9 month minimum contract position with potential to become a full-time employee.


  • Develop and drive a robust internal communications strategy with the EDIB team for over 6,000 employees across the world.

  • Work cross-functionally with the broader Corporate Communications and EDIB teams to ensure coordinated, strategic, and impactful announcements, campaigns, and manage integrated communication activities effectively.

  • Craft and implement evidence-based communication strategies and tactics that drive awareness, understanding, adoption, and commitment to EDIB practices.

  • Continue to build visual identity efforts with internal employees as well as potential candidates and the community at large, including collaborating on various communication touchpoints: internal community building, managing the monthly EDIB newsletter process, keeping staff informed about EDIB and Employee Resource Group (ERG) events, etc.

  • Manage the planning, development, and dissemination of digital communication products tailored for internal staff, including designing supporting graphics and videos in collaboration with Corporate Communications staff.

  • Facilitate a weekly EDIB Communications planning call with EDIB and Corporate Communications leaders.

  • Draft blog posts, curate and develop web content, and draft internal communications and articles for the Racial Justice & Equity (RJE) and Employee Resource Group (ERG) programs.

  • Create presentations for multiple audiences that tell the EDIB story and provide periodic updates on current and future efforts

  • Participate in monthly EDIB Leadership Council meetings.

  • Update and maintain a user-centered EDIB web presence on intranet.

  • Provide ongoing updates and distribution of corporate messaging materials across company functions to ensure consistency and relevance.

  • Drive internal and external storytelling and elevation of EDIB through real life examples of expertise, employee stories, data and insights on various communities and experiences.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Excellent ability to organize, synthesize, and present information in a written and verbal manner

  • Excellent communication skills, with knowledge of public relations and communications best practices, brand management, and community engagement strategies.

  • Excellent writing skills and knowledge of brand management

  • Ability to collaborate with executives, key collaborators, extended community of employees and contractors

  • Problem solver with ability to excel and pivot in fast-paced environment

  • Strategic, energetic, hands-on, self-starter

  • Demonstrated quick thinking and agility

  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work cross functionally

  • Openness and curiosity.


  • 8-10+ years of experience working in communications with experience in internal communications and brand management

  • Experience managing frontline team and/or communications contractors

  • Community management and team building experience

  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders, including executives and outside experts and partners

  • Familiarity with social media & podcasting best practices

  • Strong PowerPoint capabilities

  • Knowledge of strategic communications including crisis and reputation-management
