Job Description:
The Ocean Import Agent is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing import documentation that is involved in processing air and ocean import transactions. This person entails ensuring all import related tasks are in order, and that any issues are handled as and when they occur. This person reports to Ocean Import Supervisor. The Ocean Import Agent oversees all aspects of customer requests including communication with other offices/agents, US Customs, the client, and ensures quality follow up of ocean shipments, as well as thorough communication both internally and externally of any delays. The Ocean Import Agent meets this challenge in cooperation with the department Supervisor, Manager, and other Ocean Import staff. This person has responsibility for support and involvement in the Quality System by working closely with management, sales and/or operations to ensure goals and objectives are met with regard to the function(s) of this position. This individual is responsible to ensure adherence to procedures for any issues of nonconformance that could or do directly affect the success of the Quality System. This is a direct hire role, Monday ? Friday, 8AM-5PM (flexible), Fully Onsite to begin, and can be Hybrid (2 days WFH) after Training period.
Responsibilities:
This role works accounts open to close including quoting (will train).
Ensuring ISFs are received and filed per requirements.
Understanding contracted carrier rates as applicable to customer.
Preparing quotations for Customers and or Agents.
Be able to communicate with Customers, Agents, and Sales in a professional manner.
Sending Customer prealerts / notifications of departure.
Creating operating files according to shipment details.
Maintain customer service updates.
Maintain daily reports for pending shipments, if required.
Follow up with steamship line for final ETA dates or changes in transit.
Updating shipment details; ETD and ETA dates, and all events timely.
Organize and prepare documentation to provide to CHB.
Arrange delivery per customer requirements.
Confirming delivery and obtaining POD from carrier.
Passing Billing with necessary back up to Billing Department by required time frames.

Education Requirements:
Minimum high school diploma or GED.
Desired Background/Skills:
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Detail oriented with ability to work under pressure and multitask.
Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team oriented environment.
Person will use ?IS? software, but client is moving to Cargo-Wise software (experience is beneficial).
Qualifications:
General knowledge of freight forwarding/Ocean Import, with at least 6 years of experience.
Knowledge of computers and data entry.
