Job Description:
The Managing Principal (MP) is a key influential leader responsible for managing the strategic direction, profitable growth and day to day operations of the Richmond, VA office and Virginia market. The MP will work closely and collaboratively with the territory?s to meet or exceed financial and organic growth targets through client retention, sales and partnerships, as well as mergers & acquisitions. The MP will act as the cultural ambassador and foster an environment of collaboration, teamwork, transparent communication and high performance, which leads to high levels of employee engagement and retention, as well as establishes us as a destination of choice for new talent. Senior leadership skills, team building, revenue generation and general business acumen are critical to success.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for effectively managing a P/L, which includes but is not limited to; meeting or exceeding annual EBITA, Retention, Organic Growth and other defined financial targets
Works collaboratively with territory?s (Senior Managing Principal) and regional leadership teams to develop annual goals; ensures goals are met or exceeded
Works effectively in a matrix management environment, able to help drive business results within departments he/she does not directly manager
Works collaboratively and effectively to drive convergence sales with other business segments, including Retirement & Wealth, Human Resources Consulting, Property & Casualty and other specialty business units.
Consistently shares a clear message that aligns to national and regional vision and strategy, connects all employees and priorities to that message and creates a compelling vision for the future
Creates and oversees office recruiting strategy which includes; development of quarterly recruitment plans, prioritizing needs and open requisitions and identifying and cultivating relationships with high-level hires.
Actively coaches, develops and mentors staff with a servant leadership mentality
Acts as cultural ambassador to instill and foster a workplace that supports the culture and leads to an engaged and productive workforce.
Serves as most senior resource in the office to help identify and efficiently resolve employee relations and operational issues
Champions programs and initiatives prioritized by the company and region
Leverages the company?s national and regional resources to drive greater client and employee engagement and retention, as well as ensures operational efficiencies
Identifies and facilitates local partnership and acquisition opportunities
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree, required; Advanced Degree, preferred
Desired Background/Skills:
5+ years? of successful agency management or senior level leadership experience; required; insurance industry preferred
Relevant direct experience in a sales and client retention driven business
Current Life and Health license, required
Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with professionalism and discretion
Proven experience attracting, developing and retaining an ?A? player workforce and creating a positive atmosphere conducive to productivity
Must have an in-depth knowledge of the insurance business
Ability to effectively manage P/L statements
Proven ability to successfully lead, develop and grow employees
Ability to prioritize business activities that contribute to top-line and bottom-line growth
Ability to clearly articulate the company?s value proposition to potential prospects
Builds collaborative relationships and exhibits influence skills
Ability to travel within assigned region and to corporate office several times a year
