Job Description:
Our client, one of the nations leading benefit brokerage firms is hiring an Account Manager. The Account Manager is responsible for day to day management of their assigned book of business. The AM works closely and collaboratively with the internal service team, Benefits Consultants and/or Client Executives to ensure service deliverables meet and exceed client expectations. The AM serves as the clients main point of contact for any benefit- related service needs. This is a hybrid role in Richmond, VA.
Responsibilities:
Understand basic health insurance terminology, how health insurance works and the differences between plans
Familiarize oneself with the different carriers, carrier contacts and HR contacts at clients
Engage in day to day client issues
Listen in on client calls and implementation calls
Update open enrollment brochures and Benefit Guides
Familiarize oneself with Benefit Admin Portals
Learn and update internal database (D365)
Start working on minor, routine claim issues
Set up client contacts with carrier portal access
Attend carrier meetings, take notes and ask clarification questions
Understand renewal process and update team renewal calendar
Obtain Health & Life license within first 90 days of employment
Begin to learn basic compliance (COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, etc.)
Assist in identifying growth opportunities
Create and update renewal confirmation letters
Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree, preferred
Desired Background/Skills:
3+ years experience in account management or in a consultative role, required
Prior experience in broker agency or benefit administration firm, preferred
Current Life and Health license active or willing to get it within initial 90 days of employment
Thorough knowledge of health and ancillary products; required
Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products and Canva; required
Familiarity and practical knowledge of quoting process and tools; preferred
Experience with database applications, a plus.
