Sustainability Coordinator

Job Description:

Greene Resources is hiring a Sustainability Coordinator to join our client in the RTP area of Durham, NC. This position is a contract to hire role. The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for supporting our client's growing culture of sustainability by coordinating and promoting environmental stewardship initiatives, particularly in the areas of the built environment, energy, water, solid waste/recycling, landscaping, and transportation.


  • Provide input and subject matter expertise on a wide range of sustainability efforts ranging from energy, water, and waste reductions to sustainable landscaping, transportation planning, and employee wellness

  • Collaborate with team members across multiple departments to improve ongoing sustainability initiatives and generate new ideas for the future

  • Provide program support for behavioral change and employee awareness campaigns

  • Assist with planning and delivering employee engagement events and communications for company sustainability program

  • Prepare informational materials related to sustainability for different audiences (e.g. clients, staff, leadership, and community partners)

  • Compile data from various departments to support tracking of key performance metrics

Education Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field is strongly preferred.

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Public-speaking skills, including live and virtual events

  • Competency in handling multiple projects simultaneously and effectively within a set timeframe

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills


  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including explaining key sustainability concepts to stakeholder groups with varied levels of understanding

  • Ability to build relationships with key company business leaders, researchers, and community partners

  • Understanding of varied sustainability topics such as energy, water, and waste reductions as well as sustainable landscaping, transportation planning, and employee wellness

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service
