Job Description:
We are seeking to grow our research program in in vitro approaches to inhalation toxicology testing and respiratory disease mechanisms. To help grow these efforts, we are seeking a dynamic, driven, and detail-oriented Cell Biology Technician to support on-site research in this area of scientific growth. The Cell Biology Technician will support research advancing the in vivo human relevance and application of in vitro respiratory tract models for inhalation toxicology and respiratory biology. This will include work supporting the use of single and multi-cellular in vitro models ranging from cell lines to air-liquid interface (ALI)-differentiated donor-matched primary human co-culture models in the assessment of chemical exposure effects and the characterization of underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms. The Cell Biology Technician will also provide administrative and logistic support for laboratory research operations and project management.
Responsibilities:
Conduct experiments related to in vitro inhalation toxicology, respiratory biology, and the analysis of exposure response biomarkers.
Independently perform human cell culture to support research projects.
Collect and analyze samples using common cell and molecular biology methods.
Independently conduct assays to evaluate cell viability/cytotoxicity, epithelial barrier integrity, and the release of soluble mediators by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
Provide administrative and laboratory management support for senior researchers.
Actively participate in a dynamic and fast-paced research environment.
Education Requirements:
BS in biology, toxicology, or related biomedical discipline.
Desired Background/Skills:
Independent research experience involving human cell culture.
Experience generating in vitro differentiated primary cell models of the human respiratory tract.
Experience with in vitro models of the respiratory tract.
Experience with nucleic acid and protein extraction from cell cultures, qPCR, and immunoblotting.
Experience using in vitro models for chemical research and/or testing applications.
Understanding of biostatistics, data analysis techniques and associated software.
Qualifications:
Strong experience with human cell culture and common methods used in cellular and molecular biology.
Experience with multi-well plate-based assays (e.g., ELISA, cell viability/cytotoxicity assays).
Highly motivated and detail-oriented researcher with effective communication and inter-personal skills.
Effective time management skills.
Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
