Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales Engineer with experience in mechanical piping systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to analyze and interpret mechanical drawings, perform accurate material take-offs and develop cost estimates for piping projects.
Responsibilities:
Review and interpret mechanical and piping drawings, schematics, blueprints and specifications for accuracy and project alignment.
Conduct detailed material take-offs (MTOs) for piping systems, including pipes, valves, fittings and components.
Develop thorough cost estimates, incorporating labor, materials and time requirements for each project.
Coordinate with subcontractors, ensuring they have all relevant drawings and specifications for precise bidding.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement and project management teams to ensure comprehensive and accurate project bids.
Lead and mentor a team of Estimators, promoting accuracy, efficiency and best practices in estimation work.
Work cross-functionally to meet project timelines, budgets and quality standards.
Maintain open communication with clients, providing regular updates, addressing concerns and proposing solutions.
Prepare and present cost estimates, written proposals, and budgets, keeping clients informed throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor and adjust project budgets as needed, ensuring financial compliance and efficient use of resources.
Education Requirements:
Associate of Applied Science or Bachelors of Science degree (preferably in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related).
Desired Background/Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.
Strong knowledge of material take-offs, estimating software and project cost analysis.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple bidding projects.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and clients.
Proficient in MS Office with a focus on Word, Excel and Outlook.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Project Estimator with a focus on mechanical piping systems.
5+ years of experience in plan and spec estimating.
ERP systems experience is preferred.
Other Information:
Monday to Thursday.
7am to 5:30pm.
