Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Machining Setup Quality Inspector to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in machining processes and quality control, with a strong ability to inspect and verify the accuracy and quality of machined parts and setups. This role is crucial in ensuring that all machining operations meet company standards and customer specifications.
Responsibilities:
Inspection and Verification: Inspect machined parts and setups to ensure they meet specified tolerances, dimensions, and quality standards. Utilize a variety of precision measurement tools and instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Setup Evaluation: Assess and verify the accuracy of machining setups before production runs. Ensure that all setup parameters, including tooling and fixture placement, align with engineering drawings and specifications.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspections, setup evaluations, and any non-conformance issues. Document and report findings to the Quality Assurance Manager and suggest corrective actions as needed.
Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to machining processes and setup procedures to enhance quality and efficiency. Collaborate with machinists and engineers to address quality issues and implement solutions.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with company quality standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements. Conduct audits and inspections to verify adherence to established quality control procedures.
Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to machinists and set up personnel on quality standards and best practices. Assist in training new employees on quality inspection processes and procedures.
Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve quality issues related to machining setups and parts. Work with cross-functional teams to analyze root causes and implement corrective actions.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical degree or certification in Quality Control, Machining Technology, or a related field preferred.
Desired Background/Skills:
Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and instruments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Familiarity with engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and quality standards such as ISO 9001 or equivalent.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate findings and collaborate with team members.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a machining setup or quality inspection role, with a strong understanding of machining processes, setups, and quality control methods.
