Job Description:

Our client is hiring a Payroll Specialist! The Payroll Specialist is responsible for leading and directing the payroll operations, monitoring payroll taxes & compliance, and managing all payroll issues to ensure the timeliness, efficiency and accuracy of payroll processing and associated deliverables. This is a full-time, Direct Hire position.


  • Assist with day to day operations of payroll functions and duties, providing cross-functional support and collaborating with team members to resolve payroll discrepancies.

  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of the weekly payroll for 1000+ field employees on the payroll system (includes, but is not limited to the entire cycle of payroll processing for new employees.)

  • Complete Month end and year end reconciliations.

  • Process daily direct deposit, ACH, and bank wire payments.

  • Perform various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provide gender ledger support.

  • Input payroll data into the financial system (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports e.g. expense claims, overtime, leave balances, head count and month end reports).

  • Generate reports for payments, returns, and for third parties.

  • Maintain confidential HRIS employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review change for proper authorization and adherence to APA policy, including compliance with federal/state/local regulations.

  • Review and ensure accuracy of approved advances, travel and overtime claims; responsible for the coordination between human resources and payroll.

  • Complete required training, maintain knowledge of, and ensure compliance with employment-related laws and regulations, keeping abreast with company policies and tax legislations that impact remunerations.

  • Assist HR Management with the coordination of Payroll/HR projects (meetings, training, surveys, etc.) and take minutes as requested.

  • Address and respond (via Zoho tickets, email, phone calls, etc.) to employee requests regarding payroll/HR issues, rules and regulations.

  • Pro-actively identify or help mitigate areas of risk within your department/team and/or across the organization.

  • Identify and/or support the implementation/modification of processes that improve efficiencies.

  • Review applicable records/documents to validate compliance.

  • Promote a workplace environment focused on world-class customer service.

Education Requirements:

  • BS or BA degree in business administration, Human Resources or a related field preferred and, or equivalent job experience.

Desired Background/Skills:


    • Payroll for all 50 states preferred.

    • Proficiency in Excel, especially pivot tables.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
